Chris Groves studied medicine at King’s College London, qualifying in 2009. He went on to train in general medicine in London, gaining membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 2012.
He subsequently went on to train in anaesthesia and critical care in London and Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney, Australia. He completed advanced cardiac subspecialty training at Harefield and The Royal Brompton Hospitals in London, before a fellowship in the specialty at University Hospital Southampton.
He was appointed as a substantive consultant at Southampton in 2024.
His expertise includes anaesthesia for general and cardiac surgery, cardiology procedures, general and cardiac intensive care and perioperative echocardiography. As the Faculty Tutor for cardiac intensive care in Wessex, he is responsible for training in the region.
